In today’s digital era, a robust internet connection isn’t just a luxury for businesses; it’s a lifeline. It’s the key to delivering top-notch customer service and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Imagine a scenario where a customer is trying to reach your business, but their call keeps dropping due to poor internet connectivity. It’s a nightmare for both parties and can severely dent your business’s reputation.

But with a fast and reliable NBN (National Broadband Network) plan, you can turn this around. A seamless internet connection ensures crystal-clear calls and uninterrupted service, delighting your customers and safeguarding your reputation.

Moreover, a reliable internet connection empowers your team to collaborate seamlessly, irrespective of their physical location. From video conferencing to real-time messaging, advanced technologies enabled by a fast internet connection enhance productivity and efficiency.

So, how do you find the perfect NBN plan for your business? Let’s explore.

1. Assessing Speed Requirements

Your business’s internet speed requirements depend on factors like the number of employees, the nature of online activities, and the volume of data transfers. Whether it’s basic web browsing or bandwidth-intensive tasks like video conferencing, choose a plan that meets your specific needs.

2. Scalability and Growth

Think beyond your current requirements. Opt for an NBN plan that allows for easy scalability, enabling you to upgrade to higher speed tiers as your business expands without hassle or disruptions.

3. Unlimited Data

Consider plans with unlimited data allowances, especially if your business engages in activities like video streaming or handles large data transfers regularly. Unlimited data plans offer peace of mind, eliminating concerns about exceeding monthly limits and incurring additional charges.

4. Static IP Address

Ensure that the NBN provider offers a static IP address, crucial for businesses requiring remote access to their systems or hosting websites. A static IP address provides a consistent and fixed address, simplifying network access from anywhere.

5. Exploring Add-Ons and Extras

Look into additional services like cloud PBX solutions, video conferencing tools, or SIP trunking services offered by NBN providers. These extras can enhance your communication and collaboration capabilities, boosting operational efficiency.

3SIP Services: A Game-Changer

Consider 3SIP Services, a leading VoIP provider in Australia, offering a suite of NBN packages designed to meet diverse business needs. Our packages include unlimited data, a static IP address, and a cloud PBX solution. For businesses with high data demand, we offer Fibre1000, a robust solution ensuring reliable connectivity.

This service provides businesses with a reliable and robust internet connection, boasting speeds of up to 1Gbps. This ultra-fast connectivity is ideal for businesses with high data demand or video streaming needs. With Fibre1000, businesses can enjoy seamless internet access, ensuring smooth operations and enhanced productivity.

In our last article we discussed how most large telco companies in the EU suggested that Big Tech should finance the 5G rollout in Europe.

The telcos behind this suggestion are Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefonica and Telecom Italia, who suggested that Big Tech should cover part of the network costs. Their reasoning is that their data and content makes up a large part of network traffic.

During a meeting with EU industry chief Thierry Breton in Luxembourg last week, telecoms ministers from 18 countries either rejected the proposed network fee levy on tech firms or demanded a study into the need and impact of such a measure. Out of the 18 countries, 10 backed the idea.

Google, Apple, Meta Platforms, Netflix, Amazon.com and Microsoft all rejected the idea of a co-funding as they are already investing heavily in the digital ecosystem.

The European telecom ministers reasoned that there’s no proper analysis on the long-term effects such a levy would cause, for example, Big Tech passing on the extra cost to consumers. However, one could argue that the same would apply if Telecom Providers were to pay the entire cost.

A report is expected to be issued by the end of June with a summary of feedback provided by Big Tech, telecoms providers and others, and based on this, EU industry chief Thierry Breton will decide what the next steps will be.

From the look of things thus far it’s not looking positive for the telco companies…

We’ve mentioned the 5G rollout numerous times in our articles. It’s a big milestone for internet connectivity and at the same time comes with a lot of controversy from users who are concerned about the possible side effects.

Putting all that aside, you can imagine how much such a roll out could cost. We’re talking big bucks. That’s why in the EU the big telcos have drawn up a proposal to the European Commission based on internet traffic volumes. The proposal suggests that big tech companies accounting for more than five percent of a telecoms provider’s peak average internet traffic should help fund the rollout of 5G and broadband across Europe.

When we mention big tech we’re talking about the likes of Google, Apple, Facebook-owner Meta, Amazon, Netflix and TikTok. All of which would most likely be hit with fees, according to industry estimates. Google, Apple, Meta, Netflix, Amazon and Microsoft together account for more than half of data internet traffic.

Nothing has been confirmed yet and no decision has been made whether or not these big tech companies will actually help fund the rollout. However, it does not seem like an entirely irrational proposition.

That said, Meta has already urged Brussels to reject any proposals to charge Big Tech for additional network costs. It will be interesting to see how this rolls out…

Moving back down-under. In Australia no such proposal has been made yet, however, if it passes in the EU, one could easily suggest that chances are we’ll follow in their footsteps and make a similar proposal. If the telcos pay for the entire rollout, then in reality who is paying for the rollout? Just some food for thought…

Since the advent of ADSL some 20 years ago one could say that the internet connectivity market is undergoing its biggest change. We’re bombarded with banners advertising ultra-fast connectivity, unheard of gigabit speeds in a full-fibre future. At the end of it though, what are we all going to get out of this and how can you filter through the multitude of products available?

It’s no doubt that fibre will be replacing copper wires in the future. Many countries are already undergoing the conversion from copper to fibre and even though NBN may be sticking with copper wires to an extent, for now, at some point we’ll also make the switch.

The most evident and fundamental weakness that copper wires have compared to fibre is distance. The rate of signal degradation on a copper line is hugely significant. When FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) replaced the copper between cabinet there were significant improvements over ADSL. When eventually all copper wiring is replaced with fibre, A.K.A. FTTP (fibre to the premise) we expect to see even further improvements to the speed at which data is transmitted as well as the reliability and efficiency. “Up to” will be an indication of the provider’s network capacity rather than the length of a copper wire.

GPON, Gigabit Passive Optical Networks is what FTTP is made of. Imagine GPON somewhat like organisational charts where multiple sites are converging at a single “PON” that consolidates the traffic up the network to the next node. From this, it’s clear that you have shared infrastructure so when it gets busy performance will drop. This means that you’re likely to have a connection that varies in not just bandwidth but other metrics such as latency and packet loss depending on how busy it gets.

To avoid this from happening you can choose FTTP Ethernet. FTTP Ethernet has guaranteed speed as well as minimum latency and packet loss within the network it’s installed on.

Therefore, for environments which rely heavily on a fast, effective and efficient internet connection Ethernet is the way to go. With NBN Enterprise Ethernet you’re guaranteed continuity, higher bandwidth and the ability to connect your LANs to the public internet to streamline the performance of your wide area network (WAN).

The internet connectivity journey over the next few years is going to force decisions for many. These decisions could be driven by fibre availability or demand of additional bandwidth. If you want to stay ahead of the game, you should look at switching to a reliable broadband service that meets your needs now.

3SIP Services offer network and connectivity solutions for businesses:

Optimisation. That’s the answer to ensuring you’re getting your money’s worth from your current IT setup. If your setup is not optimised to meet your business needs, then bluntly put your wasting money. Don’t get me wrong, an optimised solution is not cheaper than a ready out-of-the-box solution, however, you make every penny count.

Businesses are constantly looking for ways to drive more efficient use of technology and higher returns on existing investment. One of the most effective ways to do this is to opt for optimised solutions.

Remember – it’s not about how much you spend but the value you get in return.

Is your Setup meeting your needs?

When was the last time you evaluated your current setup? I’m talking about every piece of software/productivity tool you use as well as the infrastructure, servers and the IT backbone. Accounting software, CRM software, phone system, servers, broadband the lot.

Most people get so caught up in everyday tasks – which by no means are less important – it just means that we forget to take a step back and look at the entire picture from time to time. Yes, that tool was amazing when we purchased it and met our needs at the time but what about now; 5 years down the line?

Evaluation & Optimisation. HELP!

So, the first step to better optimising your IT setup to ensure you’re getting your money’s worth is to evaluate what you currently have, how useful it still is and if it’s worth the money you’re paying for it.

The second step is to then do some thorough research and find solutions and tools that can replace what you currently have by being more effective, efficient and offer better value-for-money.

Both steps require time and effort. Time that you may not have with your everyday tasks. That’s where we come in to help.

At 3SIP Services we specialise in setting up IT networks and suggesting solutions that will work for your company’s needs to ensure you’re getting value for your buck.

We’re all customers. And as customers we expect our needs to be met. These needs start from the product itself and don’t ever really end. We expect our purchase to last X amount of time and during that time we have the right to contact the supplier for help if we need any. And how do we do this? 20 years ago, you’d simply pick up the phone and call.

However, nowadays we have various ways to make contact; email, live chat, contact form, social media, messaging apps, video calls…and what do all these means have in common? They ALL require an internet connection. What does that mean for your business? That if you don’t have a fast and reliable internet connection your customer service will suffer and as a result your customer retention levels will drop.

Broadband & Tech in Customer Service

Technology is there to help customer service agents do their job more efficiently. This kind of technology is also known as Service Technology. Service technology is software which aims at assisting customer service teams achieve customer success. It includes tools to help improve workflow efficiency and make it easier for companies to manage the increasing demand for outstanding customer service. What are these tools?

Video Calls: video is becoming a growing expectation for customers and your business should offer video as a means for customers to contact you.

Omni-channel service: omni-channel service synchs all your communications channels into one platform enabling your teams and customers to work seamlessly between them.

Real-time messaging: on-site conversations and chats are expected to be in real-time and authentic. If a customer was willing to wait for a response, they’d send an email.

Remote work: your customer service teams should have access to all the tools needed to work from anywhere and at any time to meet customer requirements.

Self-service: we’ve moved into an era of self-service where customers choose what they need, add to cart and checkout. Can your website cater for high demands?

Email tickets: even though email is being used less these days it’s still needed, and you must make sure that you respond to every customer email timely.

Can your Network Handle the Load?

Does your current network and broadband have glitches that result in your line dropping and you losing the call/chat/video? Leaving your customer dissatisfied and frustrated?

Can you rely on your current setup to always be available and responsive when your customers try to contact you? Or do you appear to be offline most of the time?

If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes” then you’re in urgent need of a broadband upgrade and a network evaluation to avoid losing valuable customers.

Check out 3SIP Services’ broadband solutions:

Change is difficult. People are reluctant to change even if they know that in the long run, they will benefit from it. This applies to business systems too. Yes, you probably know that a system or a specific software you’re running is ageing and could do with an upgrade. However, the thought of having to change your IT systems and how everything runs is daunting and quite frankly it will cost you. So, you decide to keep your current IT system and see how things go.

A Common Mistake

Don’t feel bad, this is a common mistake that many businesses, regardless of budget size, make. And we get it. Going in and changing your IT systems to something more technologically advanced entails you do a lot of research to find the system that will meet your needs, not be too difficult to deploy and easy for your teams to understand and use. And let’s not forget the costs.

In a nutshell, you’re concerned about the time and money you will need to invest as well as the learning curve for your users; which could result in a small drop in productivity until all systems are up and running again.

Upgrade your IT Systems & Save Money

The initial investment costs might appear to be huge to start with but down the line you’ll find that you are saving massively not only financially but also when it comes to productivity, time and accessibility.

Recently, it was disclosed that Home Affairs are spending a whopping $227.5m a year on external contractors in an effort to maintain their outdated IT Systems. Since, they’ve been dealing with a lot of pressure to update their systems. When they do modernise their systems, it’s predicted that they will start saving $2.1 billion in “cumulative efficiency dividends and savings”.

There’s more – Not just Cost Savings

Apart from cost savings your will experience many more benefits when upgrading your IT Systems:

Increased Security – old systems are often racked with vulnerabilities that are easily exploited by hackers seeking to infiltrate your business.

Increased Productivity & Efficiency – new systems are built for automation and scalability while at the same time provide your team with modern tools to work remotely.

More Compatibility – old systems are not compatible with new software so by making the change you’ll be opening your business to more apps & tools.

Better customer service – new systems allow you to solve customer issues faster by streamlining business processes and more.

Enable Remote Work – the majority of employees prefer to work remotely, by switching to a new system you can tap into a new modern workforce.

Need an Upgrade?

At 3SIP Services we have the knowledge and expertise to guide you through the steps of upgrading your current IT Systems. If you don’t have the time to do it, we will do it all for you, allowing you to focus on your daily tasks. We can help you with:

Server upgrades

Computer upgrades

Phone system upgrades

Networking upgrades

VoIP Provider upgrades

Broadband upgrades

Security reviews and more

Around the globe people are experiencing the cost-of-living crisis. It’s hit many businesses who in turn have had to increase their prices or let people go to be able to keep making profit or in some cases to simply break even and survive to see another day.

A huge part of trying to save money is reviewing how you currently spend and which of those expenditures are still needed. Maybe it’s a matter of just cutting-back on the amounts purchased. Absolutely understandable! However, that said, we’re here to argue why IT, Technology, and Networking expenditures should be last on your “cut-back” list.

The Future of Work

In a recent report PwC stated that 90% of people in Asia-Pacific would rather work remotely or in a hybrid manner. To be able to accommodate the need for hybrid work, companies need to invest in perfecting processes, systems, and infrastructure to protect them against new risks, while at the same time guarantee reliable communication, and enable personnel to be successful from any location. If your business is not already setup to accommodate this growing need, then investing in an infrastructure that has these capabilities is a must for the future of your business.

Cybersecurity

The last year has shown us that cyber-attacks are increasing rapidly and that all companies are under genuine danger of being a cyber-attack victim.

Even the Australian government intends to make another cyber security system intended to reinforce the nation’s basic framework so as a business this should not be something you’re not investing in.

Sustainability & Cloud Computing

Businesses and individuals have become increasingly involved in the collective fight against climate change. Technology needs to be sustainable by default, keeping future generations in mind. Therefore, as discussed in this article, investing in cloud infrastructure for your IT needs will not only help in sustainability, but it will also save you money in the long run.

Make the Right Investment

Investing in the right technology for your business needs will result in boosting your team’s productivity and engagement to driving significant economic growth. The adoption of new technologies could have a wide range of benefits for your business, and these should most definitely not be overlooked to save a quick buck. Investing in the adoption of new technologies is crucial for your business’ future.

Choosing the right technologies for your business, on the other hand, can be very difficult. Get in touch with our team and we’ll help you make sure that your IT department is setup for success and does not break the bank.

Contact Us
